Bikaner Guwahati Express derailed: 9 killed, 36 injured; Union Min inspects incident site
Guwahati-Bikaner Express derailed near Domohani in West Bengal on Thursday evening. While 12 bogies were affected, it has been confirmed that five of them were overturned. The speed of the train at the time of the accident was 40kmph. While ART & ARME/Alipurduar rushed to site, railway authorities also started the rescue process. Follow live updates here.

9 dead in Bikaner-Guwahati express tragedy; 36 injured
Union Minister for Minority Affairs, John Barla visited the accident site of Guwahati-Bikaner Express this morning for inspection. He informed that at least 9 casualties have been reported in the tragic incident while 36 people have suffered injuries. The rescue operation is complete and those injured are being treated, said Barla.

Six people lost their lives after 12 coaches of the Bikaner-Guwahati Express (15633) derailed in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district on Thursday, said Chief Public Relations Officer, Northeast Frontier Railway.

There were about 1053 passengers onboard the train at the time of the derailment at the location.

Over 200 BSF personnel were deployed at the West Bengal train accident site for rescue operation.

The location is about 42 kilometres away from New Jalpaiguri station and about 100 km away from New Alipurduar station.(The Awam News)
