Protesting Electricity Workers Return to work, Restoring work Underway
Jammu,21 Dec:- After the end of the three-day Quit Work strike, the electricity workers returned to work. Due to this, the remote villages of the district have also been illuminated again. These villages were submerged in darkness for three days. However, restoring power is still going on in many places.
Seventy per cent of the Udhampur district was plunged into darkness due to the workers’ strike. Power was restored in fifty per cent of the area on Monday itself after the Army took over the grid and the POWERGRID staff carried out repair work. But there were many hilly and remote villages where POWERGRID employees could not get information about the technical fault.
After the workers’ strike ended last night, many workers had returned to work in the night itself. But the work of restoration of electricity could start only on Tuesday morning. Electricity was shut in some parts of Ramnagar, Dudu-Basantgarh, and Panchairi. Power was restored only on Tuesday morning.
A senior official of the electricity department said that power had been restored in most villages and towns. However, work is going on in some areas. It is expected that the power system will soon be fixed in all the places. At the same time, there was relief among the people after three days due to the restoration of electricity. The shopkeepers were also happy.
The shopkeepers were very upset due to the power outage for three days. They said that he had suffered a lot due to the power outage. The entire business is dependent on electricity nowadays.
